ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Students from three north Texas universities came together Thursday night to peacefully protest the acquittal of George Zimmerman.
More than a hundred college students from University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Christian University, and University of North Texas attended the protest on the Arlington campus.
“Clearly there is some changes that need to be made,” said UTA student Michael Coleman. The president of the school’s NAACP chapter organized the protest.
Coleman, along with other organizers, encouraged students to use their voices, their votes, and even their twitter accounts to end stereotypes and to change unjust laws.
Several students at the protest brought Skittles, the candy Trayvon Martin was carrying when he was killed.
Some said the Skittles remind them of how much work needs to be done.
